Living Australian is Proudly Supported by Australia Post

Australia Post

Australia Post is proud to be supporting the Australia Day Photography Competition “Living Australian” by featuring the winning entry on a stamp issue in 2011. Postage stamps are renowned world wide for reflecting their country’s culture and this competition provides a unique way for Australians to submit their photos for consideration to be featured in this special stamp issue.

Since 1997 Australia Post has honoured the achievements of Australians with a special stamp release as part of the Australia Day celebrations. The “Australian Legends Award” marked the first time living Australians were featured on stamps and past recipients of the Award include Sir Donald Bradman, famous Australian olympians, Arthur Boyd, the last Anzacs, Slim Dusty, medical scientists, tennis legends Margaret Court and Rod Laver, Dame Joan Sutherland, fashion legends, Barry Humphries, legends of horseracing and Australian legends of philanthropy.

Australian stamp issues include the annual Australia Post “Australian Legends Award”, Queen’s Birthday and Christmas issues and a combination of commemorative themes and subjects proposed by collectors and the public. The selection process begins at least two years before the stamps are issued to allow for detailed research, the development of designs, printing and the stamp production process.

In the case of the Australia Day Council of NSW Living Australian Online Photography Competition the winning entry will be featured within months of being selected.
